Elvin Lee Morris, 81 of Stanardsville, Va. passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2023 at his home. He was born on February 17, 1942 to the late Robert Lee Morris and Fannie Virginia Shifflett Morris.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lena Morris, Jurene Morris, and Arlene Shifflett; and a brother, Charles Morris.

Elvin loved his kids unconditionally and he loved his cats Smokey and Lucky. He always wanted to take a ride to Stanardsville and to McDonalds to eat. Elvin loved bluegrass music and went to shows as much as he could. There is a special person, Glenda Shifflett, who would do anything for him, and he thought a lot of her, especially making his grass look good. He was so funny about his grass.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Morris, whom he loved dearly; five children, Debbie Kay Shifflett (Larry), Richard Morris, Carolyn Morris, Brenda Lawson (Joe), and Wendy Morris; brothers, Frank Morris (Donna), Kenneth Morris, Greg Morris; sisters, Shirley Flora, Hazeltine Shifflett, Lois Raines (Jack), Doris Shifflett, and Ruby Martin; six grandchildren, Travis Shifflett (Brandi), Richard Morris, Jr. (Jennifer), Joey Lawson, Kimberly Horne (Matthew), Matthew Lawson, and Whitney Hector, who was his pride and joy; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Reagan, and Jillian Shifflett, Gracen and Eva Morris, and Cooper and Waylon Horne, whom he loved to spend time with.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Evergreen Church conducted by Pastor Brian Robinson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.
