Debra Hughes Wood, 66 of Elkton, Va. passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. She was born on April 14, 1956 to the late Clarence Breckinridge Hughes and Lois Glenn Meeks Hughes. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nikki Virginia Wood and a brother, Teddy Miles Hughes.
She retired from the post office in Keswick, Va.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Ray Wood of Elkton, daughter, Jessica Wood Rhodenizer and husband Eric of Elkton; sons, Vernon Garrett Wood and wife Tanya of Gordonsville, and Dennis Scott Lilly of Palmyra, and Dwain Ammon Wood of Rhoadesville,; brothers, Clarence Edward Hughes and wife Debbie of Greenwood, Thomas Elmer Hughes and wife Beth of Charlottesville, Anthony Wilson Hughes and wife Becky of Crozet, Mark Wayne Hughes and wife Lynn of Crozet; sisters, Janice Hughes Imig and John of Keswick, Nettie Hughes Kelly and husband Kevin of Crozet, Sibyl Hughes Hunt and husband Bruce of Crozet, Carrie Hughes Davis and husband Billy of Afton, sister-in-law, Karen M. Hughes of Waynesboro, ; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dawn Wood of Benson, NC., Brooklyn McKenzie Crummett, Ryan Thomas Crummett, and Austin Levi Crummett all of Elkton.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
