David Laylin, born in Washington, DC on 30 January 1937, died at home in Orange, VA on 20 Nov 2024.
He had a long history of polysistic kidney disease resulting in a successful transplant in 2007. A few years ago, he was forced to go on dialysis and was grateful for the care at the Orange Dialysis Clinic. After a brief trip in October, he developed pneumonia which failed to resolve. After an incredible lifetime of travel, challenges and accomplishments, he received a MS degree from UVA in Middle Eastern Studies in 2022 at 85.
He is survived by 2 daughters from his first marriage Malena Laylin & Simonne Laylin Shuey, a daughter from his second marriage, Tafline Kay Laylin, his wife of 40 years, Carol Hallman, and her two children, Christopher and Jessica Hallman. A service at Culpeper National Cemetery will be held in the spring.
