Cary Hooks Sanders, 74, of Madison, Virginia died peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, January 21, 2022. Cary was born on March 29, 1947 in Arlington, Virginia. He was a proud graduate of Fishburne Military School, Class of 1969, and a member of Fishburne Military School Alumni Association.

Up until December of 2021, he was still active and working as Senior Vice President for Windrose Trading Company in Madison, Virginia.

He was a father of four daughters, but throughout his years he was also a father figure to countless others. People often sought him out for both his wisdom and spiritual guidance. He was loved by so many because of his love of life and sense of humor.

Cary is survived by his brother John Sanders, daughters Kris Long, Elisabeth Christenson, and Ananda Sanders, nephew Jim Sanders, grandchildren Madelyn Frazier, Mia Christenson, Kyla Frazier, Zach Frazier and great-grand children Aliya Rose, Kenzlie Rose, and Zaccai Brown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Sanders, his mother Sara Hooks Sanders, his daughter Lori Parker Lockridge, and his wife of 47 years, Gail Victoria Sanders.

Some of his wise words on his last day were “Life is all about love, do all the good you can do, and I’ll see you on the other side.”

His wishes were to have a private ceremony with family and friends.
