Beverly Brooks Racer, 83 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 13, 1938 to the late Brooks Lee Racer and Mildred Virginia Davis Racer. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Emily Fay Racer Yoder.

Beverly retired from Potomac Edison/Allegheny Power for after many years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Yvonne Johnson Racer; three daughters, Tanya Racer Hurt, Beverly Racer Salmon and husband William ‘Billy”, and Robyn Racer Shifflett, all of Madison; brothers, Shirley Nelson Racer and wife Ernestine of Ruckersville, Joseph Henry Racer, Ray LeRoy Racer and wife Marilyn, and Kenny Brent Racer and wife Debbie; sister, Virginia Kay Racer Lohr, all of Madison; grandchildren, Tiffany Danyelle Hurt Clark, Joshua Brooks Hurt, Stephen Tyler Hurt, Brooke Salmon Cyr, Kathryn “Katy” Olivia Salmon, Collin Edward Shifflett, Emily “Maggie” Margaret Salmon, Cagney Blair Shifflett;  and great-grandchildren, Jillian Clark, Jamison Hurt, Maddux Clark, Bodie Hurt, Bella Hurt, Charlotte Cyr, Corinne Cyr, Hazel May Edelman and Elijah Mox Edelman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Pastor Alan Follett will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
