Betty Gayle Davis Huber died at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation on July 16, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.


 Born June 5, 1950, she was the only child of the late Reginald Gale Davis and Martha Ann Bradshaw Davis of Nelson County, VA, and later of Barboursville, VA.


She is preceded in death by her husband William E. “Bill” Huber. Later in life she had a companion, Chuck Caul, who also preceded her in death.


Betty Gayle graduated from Nelson County High School in 1968. After Hurricane Camille in 1969, she moved to Barboursville, VA. She had a love of cats and dogs and had several in her life. She and Bill loved to travel, especially to Europe.


She was very involved in the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the ladies’ side of the Shriners and Masonic Organizations. Through these, she helped with arranging flights and other transportation needs for sick children and their families to travel to the Shriners Hospital.

She started her career at State Farm Insurance and later worked for Sheepman Supply, Phillips Jewelry, Leggett’s Department Store, and Reines Jewelers.


Betty Gayle is survived by her cousins John Bradshaw Jr., Steven Bradshaw, Keith Bradshaw, Jimmy Mawyer, and Joyce Fleet; friends Terry McIntosh, James Shifflett, Rachel Caul, Betty Sonders, Rick Rohm, Christine Rohm, Linda Mathany, and so many more wonderful friends.


A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Culpeper National Cemetery by The Rev. Kyle Bomar of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Orange, VA.
