Surrounded by family, Alice Catherine Amick Hensley, 77, entered her eternal glory January 1, 2025. The
She is preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother, Albert Jennings Amick, Jr.
Family was paramount to Alice, and she was fiercely devoted to her family. She is lovingly survived by her daughters Mary Alice Clore (Kenneth) of Gordonsville, Karen Hensley Griffen (Brian) of Powhatan, and Laura Hensley Ellis (Marc) of Ferncliff, grandchildren Morgan Ann Clore, Scott Edward Clore, Claire Michelle Griffen, and Benjamin Anthony Griffen. She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings Linda Amick Earhart of Henrico, Mary Amick Adams (Tony) of Fredericksburg, Donald Newman Amick (Frances) of Mechanicsville, and Nancy Amick Lloyd (Billy) of Holly Grove, her sister-in-law Carolyn Waddy Amick of Spotsylvania, her stepmother Ruby Amick of Charlottesville, her aunt Edythe Hester Ulery of Charlottesville, her cousin Cheryl Smith of Louisa, and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born and raised in Louisa County, Alice was educated in the Louisa County public school system and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1965. She worked at Liberty Fabrics, a fabric and yarn inventory and processing plant, for 21 years; she retired in 2006 from State Farm Insurance after 13 years of service in the Charlottesville regional office.
Alice was an avid crossword puzzle and Sudoku player and fan of UVA athletics. She cherished spending time with family and friends, seeing her grandchildren participate in school and sporting events, and was known for her deep knowledge of family and local history.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church 3092 Oakland Road Louisa, Virginia 23093, one of Alice’s childhood churches.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Martha Jefferson Foundation Cancer Center where she received world class care from Dr. Andrew Romano and staff, Hospice of the Piedmont for their steadfast supportive care, or the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA in honor of her grandcats and granddogs.
