David Lee Morris

Transitioned on October 27, 2019. Beloved father of Nashaun and daughter-in-law, Dana; grandfather of Mason and Aidan and brother of Dr. Archie Morris III and Muriel Tresvant. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.


David Lee Morris was born on March 5, 1940, to the late Archie and Anna Morris in Washington, DC. He attended the public schools of the District of Columbia. Afterwards, David attended Morgan State University where he was a member of their track team and a premier high jumper. He served in the United States Army active service 1958 to 1960, touring the U.S. Army track team. He remained enlisted until 1969. He retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Corrections after 25 years + 9 months on October 1, 1999.


The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice of the Piedmont. Especially Felicia Hall, Molly Brumfield-Horner, and Fannie Utz.


Friends may call on Friday, November 1, 2019, at Preddy's Funeral Home, Madison, VA; viewing 10:30am to 11:30am, service 11:30am to 12:00pm. A Veteran Ceremony will be at 1:00pm at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.

Rest In Peace my friend. You were an influence in my life growing up and I remember you fondly! When we met in heaven we will go horseback riding again!
